Hello HeartBased Solopreneurs,

Gosh, it feels like I could write a 10,000-word solopreneur letter right now; exploring our natural confusions, doubts, and the potential we have to integrate a more focused and profitable version of ourselves.

The Struggle

Confronting Doubts About Your Value

However, I’m going to attempt crafting a very short read for you, covering a very specific issue that you may or may not be facing. It’s a frustrating issue I continue to face, and I regularly encounter others with the same struggle.

  • The Struggle: Doubting if you really have genuine value to offer that people would actually pay for.

Insights

A Doorway Through Doubt

It might seem odd to hear that I have personal doubts around this, especially if you are someone who values my heart and my sharing. It’s odd for me, too, considering all the evidence I have of people paying me for my time and my perspective.

Sometimes I get in this funk, wondering if I’m delusional, wondering if I can succeed even more, and maybe reach those further visions I have.

I really hope my openness here helps you discover a deeper acceptance and playfulness in your own experience of doubt.

“When you realize nothing is lacking, the whole world belongs to you.” – Lao Tzu

Realizations

Understanding Your Intrinsic Value

You see, the experience of doubt is like a doorway for you to look more sincerely at your experience. It invites a more well-rounded and practical clarity. It’s not that the “doubt” is true, it’s more like a message that says you’re not seeing the deeper opportunity.

Why is it not true? Well, because it’s like doubting your inherent worth and value, your intrinsic interconnectedness to Life as a whole. There is not a single human being that has ever walked this earth that was not inherently connected to all that is.

“Enlightenment is when a wave realizes it is the ocean.” – Thich Nhat Hanh

Growth

Doubt as a Growth Opportunity

Sure, sometimes it feels like we are not; like we are separate, alone, and in some ways worthless. However, this isn’t a feeling based on what’s true, it’s a feeling based on our current level of awareness; an awareness that doesn’t see a bigger picture and deep opportunity.

The doubt that creeps in is like a gentle alarm that invites you back to a space of clarity, of trust, and a deeper willingness to learn and grow.

If we get captured by this doubt, if we allow it to “win” per se, then it will rob you of the opportunity you have to learn and grow.

“You must find the place inside yourself where nothing is impossible.” – Deepak Chopra

Empowerment

Learning, Growing, and Sharing Value

When doubt arises for me, as it has recently, what it points me to see is that I’m currently closed off to learning and growing.

It’s like I’m faced with a choice; the choice between giving up and retreating into a lower and more disconnected version of myself (arrogance), and… being more open and realizing I have a lot to learn (humility).

The value I have to share with the world, a shared value that ultimately results in my ability to receive value in exchange (getting paid), is a direct result of my willingness to learn and grow in my ability to communicate and deliver that value.

“Be a lamp unto yourself. Work out your liberation with diligence.” – Buddha

Action

Stepping Beyond Doubt

This is like the revelation of:

  • Oh, if I’m not experiencing what I prefer, then I haven’t yet grown into a version of myself that’s capable of receiving that experience.

“Grown into” is the message here, and we all have the potential and opportunity to grow.

Maybe the deeper question is:

  • Am I prioritizing this growth?
  • Am I showing up in a way that’s open and available to grow?

For myself, I see the tendency to hide from this priority and opportunity, often hidden behind the excuses I make to not take some risks, to not surrender my silly distractions, and just make the smallest steps of progress I can.

The “DOUBT” you might have is actually pointing toward a deeper sincerity within you about what you’d like to experience. The doubt is asking you to go beyond doubt and step into a deeper and more grounded openness that invites more learning.

Okay, let’s stop there so you can chew on that for a bit and see what arises for you.
