A Moment of Presence, please
Let’s take a moment together. A moment to be fully here, to check in with ourselves without judgment or expectation.
It’s astonishing how easily we can forget the simplicity of being present, and how quickly we get lost in the unconscious narratives and expectations we set for ourselves.
The essence of all spiritual practices is to bring us back to a simple yet profound awareness of being; a gentle reminder that… “Oh, right here and right now, all is well; I am whole and complete.”
The Beauty of Simplicity
Look, dear one. Notice how the mind wants to pull you away, presenting thought after thought that declares itself more important than the simplicity of just being.
This isn’t wrong or bad, just notice.
Also, whatever agitation or discord might be present in the mind or body, notice the narrative of fear that sees yourself as not enough. Do you see how this fear energizes the desire to run away from now?
Such a simple fear, the same fear for all; the fear that what and who we are is somehow unwhole, incomplete, or unworthy of the love you crave.
3 Deep Breaths
Stop, take three deep breaths, please, and relax into the fullness of right now. Allow yourself to feel the reality of this moment beyond the mind’s noise. Let each breath be a deeper invitation to just… be here.
Breathe…
Forgive the Misunderstanding, please
In this presence, together…
- seeing the vast difference between a mind distracted by an imaginary self and world, and the profound simplicity of just being here right now…
We are invited to extend the most gentle forgiveness.
There’s an innocent misunderstanding, where we, understandably, confused imagination for reality, and then went looking for what we craved in the non-reality of the mind’s content.
This isn’t wrong or bad, it doesn’t mean you’re broken, and it doesn’t imply something is wrong with you.
Simply, it’s what we do—as human beings; we get lost in the great adventure of imagination.
Forgiveness is the doorway to come home, to realize it was all just a dream.
Forgive yourself, forgive the dream, and breathe into gratitude for the wholeness that is here and now.
Breathe… (please)
You Are the Love You Crave
The confusion, the misunderstanding, assumes the love you crave (or whatever else you want to call it) exists somewhere other than here, right now, within you.
However, everything that is not here right now is only something the mind imagines. Therefore, what we chase after, what we “think” we crave, is only something in the mind— that we confuse as really being ‘out there.’
The past is imagined, the future is imagined, and reality, what is real… is only here right now.
You crave something real, and the realness of what you crave is this Love waiting to be given to yourself — by yourself.
Welcome Home
Let’s end here with three more deep breaths and, to whatever degree you can, feel a sense of love being restored.
Feel a sense of forgiveness for the misunderstanding that led you to abandon yourself, that withheld this love from yourself.
Feel the reality of being a friend to yourself, someone who will be with you for the rest of your life, and together, heal the innocent misunderstanding that sometimes makes you forget just how supported you are.
I love you; it’s okay to be human, it’s okay to forget, I’m right there with you.
Breathe…
